Visiting the school library is a scheduled weekly resource for each elementary class. Denbigh Baptist Christian School is committed to helping students become effective users of ideas and information. DBCS also strives to instill a love of reading and literature in each student with the expectation that every student will become an independent learner and life-long reader.
Lunch time at DBCS lasts for 30 minutes each day during which time students may eat and chat with their friends. Students may bring in a bag lunch or purchase items from the Lunch Menu.
On the first Friday of each month, a former DBCS mom leads our students in singing Scripture Songs.
High School Students
On the second Friday, our high school students (under the supervision of Pastor Kenny) share with our students.
Hurray for Chapel
Understanding the student's needs, our teachers prepare chapel for the third Friday.
Mr. Fletcher, Pastor Kirdy, and other guests round out our list of chapel speakers.
Fifth grade students provide a recycling project for the elementary students with TerraCycle (www.terracycle.com). Students collect Capri Sun Pouches, Chip Bags and various other items from the lunch room and home to be sent away and earn money for the Elementary Program. The goal is to collect products that would otherwise be destined for landfills, and make into products that can be used again. Cash is given back to the school for supplies and products needed, while learning to use our God given resources wisely.
Fifth graders provide an important service to our youngest preschool and kindergarten students during the morning carpool. They are responsible for helping with arrival in the carpool line and walking students to the cafeteria. Patrollers must have a "B" average and be responsible students. These students may use this service for their Bible Service Project each marking period.
The Sticks Ministry is a fifth grade ministry which focuses on bringing the Word of God to life through creative movement. Fifth graders perform Bible stories using sticks (dowel rods) and popular Christian music to encourage believers and reach nonbelievers.
Once a month, MS/HS students come to the classroom of their elementary Prayer Partner. They talk for a few minutes and then pray together. The elementary students look forward to this special time.
